What is Emsella?

Emsella is a TGA approved, clinically proven and non-invasive therapeutic treatment for pelvic floor strengthening, rehabilitation, incontinence and intimate health.

Why is pelvic health so important?
Often when we think about core strength, pelvic floor health isn’t the front of mind. Did you know however, that your pelvic floor actually forms the true foundation of your ‘core’?
Your pelvic floor is connected to your deep abdominal muscles, lower back muscles and the diaphragm to support the spine. Irrespective of gender, almost every physical activity you do relies upon the health of your pelvic floor.
Enhanced core strength improves stability, balance, posture and reduces your risk of injury or lower-back pain.

Before Emsella therapy

After Emsella therapy

Above are ultrasound images taken of a patient both before and after Emsella treatment, showing the significant improvement in pelvic floor muscle mass and muscle tone.
How does Emsella work?
The revolutionary Emsella Chair uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM) to stimulate deep involuntary contractions of the pelvic floor (otherwise known as kegels). These contractions are more intense than any persons ability to perform kegels independently and exercise the entire pelvic floor. One 28 minute session of Emsella equivocates to approximately 11,000 supramaximal contractions of the pelvic floor.
What conditions can the Emsella assist with?
- Stress urinary incontinence
- Urge urinary incontinence
- Mixed urinary incontinence
- Postpartum pelvic floor rehabilitation
- Pelvic floor muscle re-education
- Nocturia
- Restoring function post-prostate surgery
- Erectile dysfunction
- General intimate health and wellbeing
How many sessions do I require?
One of our Emsella Technicians at The Spinal Movement will advise you how many sessions you will need and frequency of maintenance sessions. This is often a set of 6 sessions within a 3-4 week period, with maintenance sessions quarterly, however this can vary depending upon your health and goals.
Side Effects?
Emsella requires no down-time. Side effects are unlikely, however if any arise they are typically very mild. These can include temporary muscle spasms or muscle fatigue, joint pain or redness.
Lactic acid is released by the sequencing during your Emsella therapy and this allows the pelvic floor to be exercised at such high intensity without experiencing delayed onset muscle soreness, also known as DOMS.
Some patients experience a feeling of calm, relaxation and sleepiness post-treatment, while some feel highly energised. Both are safe and normal responses to treatment.
